Privacy Policy

ToolUniverse is a collection of browser-based developer utilities — a JSON formatter, Base64 encoder and decoder, JWT decoder, regex tester, and YAML toolkit. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit this site, what we deliberately never collect, and how third-party services we use — Google Analytics and Google AdSense — handle information on our behalf.

What never leaves your browser

Every tool on ToolUniverse runs entirely client-side, in JavaScript executing on your device. When you paste JSON into the JSON Toolkit, decode a JWT, or convert Base64, that text is processed locally in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers, logged, or stored anywhere we control. We have no database of tool input or output. If you close the tab, the data is gone — we never had it in the first place.

Information we collect automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools automatically log standard technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages visited, and timestamps. We use this in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and fix bugs — we do not use it to identify you personally.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and browser storage (localStorage) for three purposes:

• Preferences: remembering your theme (light/dark), recently used tools, and favorited tools, stored only in your browser.
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 sets cookies to measure page views and which tools are used, so we can prioritize what to build next.
• Advertising: once ad serving is enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

On your first visit, a consent banner asks you to accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies. We use Google Consent Mode to honor that choice: if you decline, Google Analytics and AdSense operate in a restricted, non-personalized mode rather than being blocked from loading entirely. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for ToolUniverse and reloading the page.

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

We use, or intend to use, Google AdSense to display advertising on ToolUniverse. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Third-party ad networks and analytics partners we use may include Google AdSense and Google Analytics. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which governs the data they collect independently of this site.

What we don’t do

• We don’t require an account, login, or email address to use any tool.
• We don’t sell personal data to anyone.
• We don’t store the text, files, or data you paste into a tool on any server.
• We don’t share analytics data with anyone beyond the aggregate reporting Google Analytics provides us.

Children’s privacy

ToolUniverse is a developer utility site not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the details below and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data associated with you. Because we don’t maintain accounts or store tool input, most such requests will simply confirm we hold no personal data beyond what Google Analytics logs in aggregate. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows or as our use of third-party services changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
